OREGON SYMPHONY’S 2010/11 SEASON INCLUDES
23 PREMIERES FOR THE ORCHESTRA
(PORTLAND, Ore.) – The Oregon Symphony’s 2010/11 concert season will include the premiere performances by the orchestra of 23 works never before performed in its 115-year history. Taken together, the premieres represent a third of all the music the Oregon Symphony will perform in its major concerts throughout the year.
Of the 16 concerts on the classical subscription series, 15 will feature works the Oregon Symphony has never before performed (the one-night-only gala concert Sept. 16 with violinist Joshua Bell also includes a premiere). They are:

- Narong Prangcharoen, Phenomenon … the Mysterious and the Unexplained (Oct. 2-4)
- Franz Liszt, Mephisto Waltz No. 1 (Oct. 9-11)
- William Bolcom, Violin Concerto (with violinist Benjamin Schmid, Oct. 30-Nov.1)
- Maurice Ravel, Minuet Antique (Nov. 13-15)
- William Walton, Charge and Battle from Suite from Henry V (Nov. 13-15)
- Giacomo Meyerbeer, Coronation March from La Prophète (Nov. 20-22)
- Gustav Mahler, Symphony No. 10 (Nov. 20-22)
- Marc-André Dalbavie, Color (Jan. 15-17)
- Rodion Shchedrin, Carmen Suite (after Georges Bizet) (Jan. 29-31)
- Jennifer Higdon, Percussion Concerto (with percussionist Colin Currie, Jan. 29-31)
- Carl Nielsen, Symphony No. 6, “Sinfonia semplice” (Feb. 5-7)
- Gregory Vajda, Duevoe (Feb. 19-21)
- Arturo Márquez, Danzón No. 2 (Feb. 26-28)
- Jean Sibelius, The Oceanides (Mar. 12-14)
