Laureate Music Director James DePreist conducts the Oregon Symphony in the performance of one of his signature pieces, Respighi's “The Pines of Rome.” The piece is paired with Respighi’s “The Birds” and Barber’s “Violin Concerto” featuring violinist Elmar Oliveira. Tune in to the stations of Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) Radio on Friday, March 4 from 9-11pm. The broadcast is the third a series of classical Oregon Symphony concerts airing on OPB Radio the first Friday in each month through October.
In addition to the concerts, OPB and KBPS are collaborating to bring listeners interviews with musicians and conductors during the performance intermission. The March 4 interview features James DePriest talking with KBPS' John Pitman about the music featured in the concert and on working with his friend, violinist Elmar Oliveira.
